A total of 11 people, aged between 17 and 23, are being investigated by the police for their alleged involvement in illegal online gambling and misuse of bank accounts.Police said on Thursday (June 11) night that they conducted a gambling suppression operation between June 4 and 11.The nine men and two women are alleged to have facilitated illegal online betting for others by obtaining online betting accounts from unlicensed betting platforms, or by providing personal bank accounts for unlicensed operators to conduct transactions.Preliminary investigations revealed that seven of the 11 persons being investigated are believed to have either sold or relinquished control of their personal bank accounts to illegal gambling syndicates.They had allegedly opened bank accounts before relinquishing them and the corresponding banking credentials to syndicates.Another three persons are alleged to have obtained illegal online betting accounts from unlicensed gambling operators for others to participate in illegal online gambling activities.

An online post has alleged that snakes were handled poorly during a photography-focused night walk in Mandai.In a Facebook post late last month, a participant, who wished to remain anonymous, claimed that a snake was removed from a branch approximately three to four metres above the ground and handled for a photography session.The poster alleged that the individual who removed the snake spent around 10–15 minutes repeatedly repositioning the reptile to get a good photo, and at one point commented on its position before moving it again.The snake was also reportedly in the process of shedding during the incident.According to the poster, another smaller snake was also allegedly handled and passed among participants for taking photos.The poster added that they were concerned about the potential stress caused to the reptiles, citing prolonged handling and repeated interference during shedding.

A construction firm and its employees have been charged, while PUB and Surbana Jurong Consultants have been given conditional warnings for their involvement in the 2025 Tanjong Katong sinkhole incident.In a joint press release on Thursday (June 11), the Building and Construction Authority (BCA), the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) and the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said that they have completed their respective investigations into the incident.The incident, which occurred next to a worksite along Tanjong Katong Road South on July 26 last year, resulted in a sinkhole that caused a car and its driver to fall into it. The driver was rescued by workers and taken conscious to the hospital. Road repairs and reinstatement work at the sinkhole took nine days to complete, with roads being reopened on Aug 4.

Online examinations at all three Institute of Technical Education (ITE) colleges in Singapore were affected after the system crashed on Thursday (June 4).Responding to queries from AsiaOne, an ITE spokesperson said that some students encountered difficulties accessing the examination system on Thursday, adding that those affected will take their rescheduled examinations on June 11. «We are working with the vendor to resolve the issue,» said the spokesperson, adding that in the meantime, all examinations from June 5 onwards proceeded as scheduled using printed scripts. In a Reddit post shared on the day of the incident, a student recounted arriving at the examination venue at 8.30am ahead of a 9am paper. According to the poster, an invigilator asked candidates to log in to the examination system, but they were unable to do so.«The system crashed and nobody could log in because it's offline when in reality the internet connection was perfectly fine,» the student wrote, adding that they waited for about two hours before being informed that the examination would be postponed to the following week.

The long-running musical Jesus Christ Superstar, which presents a dramatised, artistic interpretation of biblical figures and events, has been given an Advisory 16 rating for «some mature content» by the Singapore authorities.«The Advisory 16 rating and consumer advice are intended to alert audiences to the mature and religiously sensitive nature of the content,» said the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY) and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) in a joint statement on Thursday (June 11).The production's presenter, Base Entertainment Asia, has also included a disclaimer on ticketing platforms stating that the musical, set to be staged from Aug 19 to Sept 6 at the Sands Theatre, «is presented for entertainment purposes only, and is not intended to be a biblically accurate representation of the life of Jesus».The disclaimer will also be present at the event venue at Marina Bay Sands.Jesus Christ Superstar began as a rock opera album in 1970, was staged as a musical the next year, and adapted into a film in 1973. All Singaporeans will be able to claim $500 worth of Community Development Council (CDC) vouchers from Thursday (June 11).This ninth tranche of disbursements was launched on Thursday at Nanyang Community Club by Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong.Also in attendance were the mayors and representatives of the five CDCs.As with earlier tranches, the amount is split equally — each household will receive $250 for spending at participating hawkers and heartland merchants, and $250 for spending at participating supermarkets.The full list of participating heartland merchants, hawkers, and supermarkets can be found at go.gov.sg/cdcvouchers.Singaporean households can visit go.gov.sg/cdcv and log in with their Singpass to claim their CDC Vouchers.After claiming the vouchers, the claimant will receive an SMS with a unique voucher link from gov.sg to his or her mobile phone number.The CDC vouchers will be valid until Dec 31, 2027.

With the arrival of the durian season, crowds have reportedly been drawn to Pulau Ubin by the prospect of free fruit — even though picking those fruits is illegal.Durian season typically occurs between June and September.When 8world reporters visited the island on Wednesday (June 10), they saw durians falling and spotted at least eight people — some were on bicycles looking while others waited under the trees — searching for wild durians in the span of two hours, reported 8world. At least four people reportedly returned to the jetty with large bags full of durians. Hong, a 72-year-old visitor, told 8world it was his second time at Pulau Ubin this week to collect durians, having taken the 7am ferry and arriving at around 8am. By then, there were about 10 people already collecting durians. He added that he only visits the island during the durian season and with word spreading about durians falling, more and more people started visiting the area.
