A pair of livestreamers in Singapore has come under fire after launching into a vulgarity-laden rant directed at customers who apparently cancelled their order at 3am.The two members of the livestreaming team @vedawinfam, Winnie Heng and Vadalene Eng, were slammed for their response to customers who apparently wanted to return highly sought-after items after the livestream ended.An 11-minute screen recording of the scene was uploaded on the SgTea subreddit on Aug 14, where Eng says in Mandarin: «Do you know how many people couldn't buy it and left? Then you left it until later and cancelled?»Heng then refers to the viewers as «f******» twice before repeating «f*** you» to the camera four times.«I shouted until I had no voice left,» she adds.«I curse you from the bottom of my heart. From the bottom of Winnie Heng's heart,» she repeats forcefully, calling out three of the customers by their TikTok handle.Stepping back, she takes a sip of a drink and raises her hands as she «transfers» her «suay-ness» - Hokkien for unluckiness - to the customer.

In the middle of a friendly basketball game in Yishun, a player suddenly fell and went into cardiac arrest.As a crowd formed around the man, three off-duty nurses from the nearby Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH) stepped in to assess the situation and perform first aid.Staff nurse Eroe Berbenzana, senior staff nurse Benson Salvador Li Hian and senior enrolled nurse Dioanes Barcelon Urcia received commendation from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) for their life-saving actions, said KTPH on Friday (Aug 14).According to the hospital, the trio was waiting to join the game at the basketball court near the Tzu Chi Humanistic Youth Centre when the incident occurred.It initially appeared that the player had simply tripped.But when the nurses checked on the growing commotion, they purportedly realised that the man's body was stiffening. A Jurong East resident died after a fire broke out in a flat in the early hours of Sunday (Aug 16).The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said on Facebook that it was alerted to the blaze at Block 339 Jurong East Avenue 1 at about 3.55am.The fire, which involved items in the living room of a unit on the third floor, caused black smoke to spread outside the house.Firefighters forcefully entered the flat and extinguished the flames with a water jet.A person who was found lying unresponsive in the living room was pronounced dead at the scene by a paramedic.The deceased is believed to be a man in his 60s or 70s, reported Lianhe Zaobao.About 50 residents from the affected block were evacuated by the police and SCDF as a precaution.SCDF is investigating the cause of the fire.[[nid:742042]]lim.kewei@asiaone.com

A total of 13 motorists were caught for various traffic offences at Woodlands Checkpoint over the National Day long weekend.The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) said on Saturday (Aug 15) that stepped-up operations, conducted between Aug 6 and 10, were intended to detect and deter motorists who had committed traffic offences, engaged in queue cutting and displayed other dangerous road behaviour.According to ICA, the offences committed at the departure lanes included crossing double white lines, making illegal right turns, stopping in positions likely to cause danger, obstruction or undue inconvenience, and queue cutting.Of these, 11 vehicles were directed to make a U-turn and re-queue, while two drivers of foreign-registered vehicles were subjected to entry ban into Singapore for offences including crossing double white lines and queue cutting.10 of the 13 motorists were referred to the Traffic Police for further action.

The owner of a Vietnamese restaurant in Geylang has taken to social media to warn others after she fell victim to an alleged scam.An La Ghien – Authentic Vietnamese Cuisine posted a Reel on Thursday (Aug 13), appearing to call and confront a man whom they said had placed a large takeaway order worth $288.25 at around 5.24pm.When staff had sent him the QR code for payment, he had responded with a screenshot «showing that the payment was supposedly successful», the accompanying caption read.The restaurant then booked a Lalamove delivery to the address that was provided, only for the resident there to refuse the food and say they had never ordered food from them.An La Ghien staff and the Lalamove driver both called the man who had placed the order. He claimed it was the correct address.«Thankfully, the driver became suspicious and returned the food to our restaurant,» An La Ghien's owner said. «When my staff informed me, I immediately checked our actual bank account.»She then discovered that they had not received the payment after all, and that it had been a fake screenshot.

A 29-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly driving while under the influence of drugs.In response to AsiaOne's queries, the police said they received a call for assistance at 5.30am on Thursday (Aug 13) at Block 333 Yishun Street 31.Upon arrival at the scene, police officers woke the man who was sleeping in a van's driver's seat.He was found in possession of suspected drugs, one vaporiser and an assortment of weapons including knuckledusters and karambits.The man was subsequently arrested for the possession of offensive weapons, driving under the influence of drugs, suspected drug- and vaporiser-related offences.The police referred the suspected drug offences to the Central Narcotics Bureau and also referred the vaporiser related offences to the Health Sciences Authority.Investigations are ongoing.In photos published by Shin Min Daily News, the van appears to be from LoadUp Singapore.The van-sharing platform told The Straits Times that it is investigating the incident.LoadUp Singapore said that none of its staff was driving the vehicle at the time.[[nid:742716]]syarifahsn@asiaone.com

A Chinese national was sentenced to three years and eight months' jail on Friday (Aug 14) after burgling homes on his first visit to Singapore last year. Huang Xiaozong, 41, broke into two houses in Serangoon and a suite at Capella Singapore, stealing an estimated $105,750 worth of valuables, CNA reported.He pleaded guilty to two counts of housebreaking, and an additional count of trespass was taken into consideration for sentencing.Police previously recovered stolen jewellery, including a pair of wedding rings, a diamond-studded pendant, several necklaces, bracelets, rings and earrings, and seized $1,000 in cash, four ez-link cards, a cap and a wig during their investigations.Considered Singapore 'very nice and rich'The court heard that Huang had visited Singapore for the first time on Dec 5, 2025, and noticed that the country was «very nice and rich».
