Singapore's non-oil domestic exports (NODX) rose by 24.2 per cent in July compared to a year earlier, extending the 20.8 per cent growth recorded in June, Enterprise Singapore (EnterpriseSG) announced on Monday (Aug 18).The growth was led by electronic NODX, which grew by 112 per cent, up from the 105.1 per cent increase in June.According to Enterprise SG, the increase was supported by «robust artificial intelligence related demand» such as disk media products — which rose by 339.1 per cent or $1.6 billion, and integrated circuits — which grew by 84.5 per cent or $1.4 billion.Meanwhile, non-electronic NODX fell by 2.3 per cent, easing slightly from the 2.8 per cent in June.Overall, NODX grew by 19.4 per cent in the first seven months of this year.Of the top 10 markets for NODX exports, the US was Singapore's top market, following by China and Taiwan.Non-oil re-exports (NORX) grew by 51.3 per cent in July, down slightly from the 60.3 per cent growth recorded in June. The expansion was also primarily driven by the electronics sector, EnterpriseSG said.

Then you left it until later and cancelled?»Heng then refers to the viewers as «f******» twice before repeating «f*** you» to the camera four times.«I shouted until I had no voice left,» she adds.«I curse you from the bottom of my heart. From the bottom of Winnie Heng's heart,» she repeats forcefully, calling out three of the customers by their TikTok handle.Stepping back, she takes a sip of a drink and raises her hands as she «transfers» her «suay-ness» - Hokkien for unluckiness - to the customer.

He saved $8k as a teen, but lost it in bad investments. Now he champions Islamic finance

SINGAPORE - Muhammad Ridhwaan Radzi's first lesson in investing came early in life at age 17, when he invested $1,000 in an Islamic fixed deposit with CIMB Bank. His interest in Islamic finance deepened as he began creating content, conducting research and organising community events on the subject in Singapore in 2023.«(I realised that) discussions around halal investing consistently drew the highest engagement, yet practical tools and access remained limited,» said Ridhwaan. This led him to start building RizqX in his final year at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), where he was pursuing a business degree specialising in international trade and a minor in entrepreneurship. He graduated in 2023.Ridhwaan, now 30, co-founded Rizqx with a partner he met during national service, who is now an Oxford PhD candidate specialising in AI and machine learning. Their investment platform is designed to give Muslims in South-east Asia access to halal, or syariah-compliant, investment opportunities that are often fragmented, under-publicised or difficult to evaluate.

Ilhan Fandi gave Singapore hope with a superb late goal as the Lions fell 3-1 to Thailand in the first leg of their Asean Championship semi-final at Jalan Besar Stadium on Saturday (Aug 15).Singapore appeared to be heading to Bangkok with a daunting three-goal deficit after a Teerasak Poeiphimai first-half double and Seksan Ratree's strike shortly after the restart put the record seven-time champions firmly in control. But Ilhan sparked hope in the 84th minute, cutting inside before curling an effort into the far corner off the post to score the first goal Thailand have conceded at this year's tournament. The goal breathed life into the sold-out Jalan Besar Stadium, with the crowd roaring the Lions on with chants of «satu nada» («one heartbeat») in the closing minutes. It was not enough to prevent Singapore's first defeat of the tournament, but Ilhan's strike narrowed the deficit for Gavin Lee's world number 148 team to overturn against the world number 94 at Bangkok's Rajamangala Stadium on Tuesday.

The Marriage and Parenthood Reset Workgroup will be rolling out interim measures which will be announced at the upcoming National Day Rally. These measures come ahead of the workgroup's full report that will be released early next year, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office Indranee Rajah during the Pasir Ris-Changi National Day dinner on Saturday (Aug 15).Addressing attendees at the event, Indranee, who chairs the workgroup, said these policies will ensure the government does not lose time in addressing the important issue of Singapore's declining birth and marriage rates.Over the past few months, the inter-ministry workgroup has been speaking with Singaporeans regarding their aspirations and concerns towards settling down and starting families, she added. These chats revealed that while many Singaporeans aspire to get married and have children, they encounter various challenges related to finances, housing and childcare.
