Monrovia  –  Prof. Dao Ansu Sonii, Liberia’s Minister of Education, has been awarded an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree. The award was conferred on Prof. Sonii by the College Council of the Starz College of Science and Technology, where he served as the commencement speaker at the second annual graduation ceremony. “The College Council, Board of Governors, and Faculty, in making this award, noted the enormous contributions made by Prof. D. Ansu Sonii to humanity and empowerment of youth,” the College Council’s citation read. “Professor Sonii is a double career personality with combined experience in education and finance, a detail-oriented CPA, MBA, with a Master’s Degree in Accounting; he is a financial professional with broad and focused experience in public and corporate accounting. He remains a lifelong educator with a strong commitment to advancing the academic attainment and future prospects of Liberian youth.” Prof. Sonii has had decades of experience in the education sector and was recently Vice President for Administration of the University of Liberia, where he also served as a member of the Faculty Senate.
