Wedi Kebede the notorious pfdj operative who was in charge of Adi Abeito Prison and some of his henchmen have been arrested. Wedi Kebede was known for his cruelty and is responsible for atrocities against countless prisoners. It is unclear how his arrest came about but it is believed it follows a visit to Adi Abeito by Issias Afworki about a week ago. During his visit, Issias Afworki was heard telling those in charge of the prison that they will not escape accountability. Our sources believe that this might be one of the many things that Issias will do to evade responsibility for the injustice in the country. Our sources also confirm that some Pentecostals have this week been released from Adi Abeito and Mai Sirwa prisons following their signing of documents pledging that they will not participate in any activities of the Pentecostal churches again. Release Eritrea has confirmed that this morning around 30 prisoners who were imprisoned for their Christian faith have been released. Another five were released yesterday. All prisoners (11 women and 24 men) were released on bail from Mai-Sirwa Prison. This group of prisoners had filled out forms agreeing to not participate in meetings conducted by their respective churches four and half years ago, however unlike their fellow believers who had done that to secure release previously they were never granted a release until yesterday. As Eritrea celebrates its 27th year of independence as a totalitarian state, similar thoughts come to mind. The bright future we all imagined in 1991 is nothing but fading memory today. ... several Ethiopians in the border towns started demonstrating some of whom were chanting “We are not Eritreans”. These events were followed by a statement from the TPLF which seemed to support the decision made by the EPRDF but with strings attached. As those demonstrations started to pick up momentum, the central committee of TPLF conducted a three day meeting and issued a statement that pointed out some errors made by its umbrella organization the EPRDF. While all these events and more were taking place in Ethiopia, the Eritrean social media was quickly picking up recent news item and those news items prompted Facebookers to write their own analysis with opposing sentiments and those sentiments have of course turned into heated arguments.
